The Envelop Desk made an appearance at this years Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, catching the attention of several bloggers: Gizmodo, Uncrate and Photoinduced.
The Envelop Desk has won a 2009 Best of Year Award from Interior Design Magazine in their Contract/Desking & Systems Furniture category. Details about the award and winners in other categories can be seen on their website: www.interiordesign.net
The Envelop Desk, manufactured by Herman Miller, has won the 2009 National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition Attendee’s Choice Award. This years convention was held November 17-20, 2009 in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace.
The Envelop Desk for Herman Miller will be revealed to the public for the first time at NeoCon 2009 in Chicago, June 15-17. We designed it concurrently with the Embody Chair, thus, along with other reasons, Herman Miller has correctly dubbed it: “The first desk designed with a task chair in mind.” The official press release can be read on Herman Miller’s website.
The Embody Chair was used as a prop on NBC’s TV show Chuck,
season 2, episode 19: “Chuck Versus the Dream Job”. It will be available for free viewing until September 20, 2009 on Hulu.com. The chair first appears at the 35:20 time marker.
Fast Company says the Aeron Chair helped inspire Burton’s new 2009 CO2 snow board bindings. See their analysis here.
The Embody Chair has been showing up in various magazines. Here’s what we’re aware of so far:
I.D. Magazine has an article. The chair is also on the cover.
Fortune: article, video and a picture of our staff designer Shawn in the slide show.
Blueprint: best collection of chair development images yet. Also pictures of staff designer Jason. Article starts on page 87 of the electronic version…
Popular Science: article with images…
Today is the first official day of the Embody chair’s public media tour, with three western Michigan (home of Herman Miller) publications leading the way:
The Holland Sentinel
The Grand Rapids Press
Western Michigan Business Review
Interestingly, the first detailed mention we saw was on September 21, 2008 at: ArabianBusiness.com
Based in Minneapolis, SWA is the legacy of the late Bill Stumpf, a brilliant designer best known for his groundbreaking Aeron office chair. Nearly a decade ago, Bill and Jeff Weber formed Stumpf Weber + Associates, and together collaborated on a series of successful products for Herman Miller.
After Bill’s unexpected death in 2006, Jeff and staff formed Studio Weber + Associates, which continues to develop products for Herman Miller—some of which soon will be available to the public.
